“America's Golden Age Begins Now”

The President began his speech by declaring that “America's Golden Age is just beginning.”

Mr Trump said that under his watch, the country would “thrive again and be respected” around the world and suggested he would oversee the transformation over the past four years.

“Every single day of the Trump administration, I will, very simply, put America first,” he said.

The president also reiterated his claims that the Justice Department was weaponized against him and said his “top priority” would be to build a country that is “proud, prosperous and free.”

Trump criticizes America's “decline”

The President immediately in his speech lamented the condition of the country under the policies of his predecessor. Mr Trump condemned the US education and health systems, saying, “My recent election is a terrible betrayal and a mandate to completely reverse all the betrayals that have occurred to date and to give back to the American people their trust, their confidence.” Wealth, their democracy and indeed their freedom.”

Later in the speech, Mr Trump said he rejected expectations of returning to the White House.

He said, “Many people thought it was impossible for me to make such a historic political comeback, but as you see today, here I am.” “The American people have spoken.”

Executive actions on immigration, energy, and trade

Trump used his inaugural address to outline several executive actions he plans to take now that he has been sworn into office.

On immigration, he said he would declare a national emergency at the southern border, a promise that earned him a standing ovation from the crowd in the Rotunda.

He also said that his administration would reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy that he implemented during his first term and end the practice of holding and releasing migrants with the promise of a future court date.

He said, “As Commander-in-Chief, I have no greater responsibility than to protect our country from threats and attacks and that is exactly what I am going to do.”

Mr Trump said he would also direct members of his Cabinet to tackle inflation and reduce costs. He pledged to declare a “national energy emergency”.

“We'll drill, baby, drill,” he said, another promise that received a standing ovation.

The President reiterated his plan to impose tariffs and taxes on foreign countries to “enrich our citizens” and said he would issue an executive order aimed at curbing government censorship.

Mr. Trump said that under his administration, the federal government's position will be that there are two genders: male and female. He also promised to reinstate US service members who were removed from the military over objections to the COVID-19 vaccine and provide them with back pay.

Gulf of Mexico, Denali and Panama Canal

Mr Trump confirmed he would do so change name From the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of Mexico.

He also said that Denali, the highest mountain peak in North America, would be renamed Mount McKinley.

Mr Trump said his administration would work to send American astronauts to Mars.

He said, “We will pursue our manifest destiny in the stars by launching American astronauts to plant the stars and stripes on Mars.”

The announcement received praise from billionaire Elon Musk, who sat on stage with CEOs of other technology companies such as Jeff Bezos.

Bezos, with his company Blue Origin, and Musk, who owns Space-X, have both launched rockets into space.
