Police say three people were injured in a shooting at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Christmas night. The other was stabbed. The condition of one was serious.

Authorities said that followed a second incident involving firearms.

According to police, officers responded to a report of shots fired at a restaurant in Terminal 4 outside a security checkpoint at around 9:45 pm local time and found a woman and two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Everyone was admitted to the hospital. The woman's condition was described as life threatening. The men were in stable condition.

Officers then detained a male and female juvenile in a parking garage. He was taken to hospital with at least one stab wound and was reported in stable condition. There was no initial indication that she was injured.

Police say initial information was that all involved knew each other and “engaged in a physical altercation which escalated when one person pulled out a gun.” It was not clear which one.

Police said no one else was hurt at the airport. The security checkpoint was temporarily closed and Sky Train operations were halted as a precaution, but, police said, “the incident has been resolved, and operations have returned to normal.”

Later, police said, a man received a message about a possible active shooter at the airport, arrived with a firearm and began “fighting” with an officer. He was detained and booked on multiple charges. Police say the two incidents were unrelated.
