3 Dead in Accident Involving Matatu & Motorcycle

Three people have died and three more have been left injured in an early morning accident in Nyakach, Kisumu County.

According to pictures seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the accident happened when a matatu collided with a motorcycle along the Katitu-Kendu Bay road.

Reports state that the motorbike was ferrying four pillion passengers at the time of the accident.

The three deaths add to a series of road fatalities that have been plaguing the nation during this year’s festive season.

Earlier this morning, it was reported that an accident at Mwisho wa Lami area in Mau Narok, Nakuru County resulted in the injuries of at least 40 people on Wednesday night.

It is said to have happened when two lorries travelling in opposite directions were involved in a head-on collision, injuring several people, including pedestrians.

The Kenya Red Cross confirmed the accident, noting that rescue personnel had already been disbursed to the site.

Amulti-agency team comprising the National Police Service (NPS), the Nakuru County Government Ambulance Service, and Emergency Kenya Services arrived.

A few days ago, another deadly accident that resulted in eight fatalities was reported on the Narok Mai-Mahiu road.

The fatalities were as a result of two trucks heading to Mai Mahiu from Narok crashing with several vehicles and a motorbike in  two different crashes.

The first crash resulted to the loss of three occupants of a matatu while the next crash led to the death of two pillion passengers and three Prado occupants.

As travel plans heat up, motorists have been urged to be more careful on the road to avoid more fatalities.
