The world's top-ranked golfer will miss the PGA Tour's season-opening event in Hawaii next month after injuring his right hand while preparing for Christmas dinner.
Scotty Scheffler Withdraws from The Sentry, the only winner's tournament held at Kapalua Resort on January 2–5, after injuring his hand on broken glass.
“Scottie suffered a laceration to the palm of his right hand from broken glass,” Scheffler's manager Blake Smith said in a statement Friday. “Small pieces of glass remained in the palm which required surgery. He has been told he will make a 100% recovery in three to four weeks.”

Scheffler hopes to return to action Jan. 16-19 at The American Express in La Quinta, Calif.
Last season, the 28-year-old golfer overwhelmingly won the Jack Nicklaus Award as PGA Tour Player of the Year, making Tiger Woods the only player to win the award three times in a row.
