A Reddit user posted a screenshot of an overnight Spotify search that came as a surprise: There was a porn video hidden among the suggested results for rapper MIA. Link to NSFW threadWe didn't see the video shown in their screenshot, but after scrolling through dozens of results in the “Videos” tab we found other videos.

One of the accounts posting the videos we looked at has published erotic audio for years, but has recently expanded to include sexually graphic videos as well. Another account, which was named with a long string of alphanumeric characters, has been publishing explicit videos with equally nonsensical titles as the podcast account since mid-November.

Spotify representative Laura Bate told The Verge An email stated that the examples we provided “have been removed due to violations of our policies.” Those policies include ban sexually explicit materialWe asked Spotify for more information on how the video passed its moderation and we'll update here if it responds.

The videos we found appear to be unmoderated podcast uploads, and reporting them isn't very convenient. The Spotify app lacks a button to do this – instead, users must copy the URL of the content and go to a Webpage for reporting Potential violation.
