There were reports of a possible mass casualty incident after a vehicle plowed into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans' French Quarter on Wednesday morning. The popular tourist district would have been busy in the early hours of the New Year.
Witnesses told CBS News reporter Kati Weiss that a truck crashed into the crowd at high speed on Bourbon Street, and then the driver got out and began firing a weapon and police responded.
Weiss saw several injured people on the ground.
A New Orleans police spokesperson told CBS News, “Preliminary reports indicate that a car may have struck a group of people. Injuries are unknown but deaths are reported.”
