Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi revealed he would forgive and seek the release of all those accused of burning and vandalising his Timba XO club in Eldoret.
Speaking at Sports Club in cross-over celebrations in Eldoret on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, the legislator said that as he begins the new year, he will facilitate the release of the suspects who had been arrested in the vandalising of his high-end club that is located along Eldoret-Nakuru Highway.
“If I have wronged anyone, I ask for forgiveness. Those who wronged me last year I have forgiven them. Even those who burnt down my place (the club), I will remove them from prison,” Sudi stated.
The UDA-elected MP made the remarks at an event that was headlined by gospel artist Emmy Kosgei. Rose Muhando was also in attendance to entertain thousands of residents who had gathered for New Year celebrations.

Sudi, who is a close ally to President William Ruto, saw his club vandalised and burnt down in the wake of the antigovernment protests that had rocked the country in June 2024.
On June 25, protesters in Eldoret stormed Sudi’s club and looted before setting ablaze the hotel that had been open a few weeks earlier in a colourful ceremony that was attended by Sudi and several other MPs.
Protesters opposing the Finance Bill 2024 marched from Eldoret CBD to the club, where they broke glass walls, windows, and doors.
Police had to be called in to try and salvage the looting that had begun as protesters gained entry into the club and made away with some valuable items.
In his statement, Sudi emphasised the importance of forgiveness and moving forward rather than dwelling on past grievances.
He articulated that holding onto anger would not benefit him or the community at large. Instead, he believes that forgiveness is a powerful tool that can foster healing and reconciliation within society.
The act of arson not only caused financial loss but also raised concerns about safety and security during public demonstrations. However, Sudi’s response highlights a personal philosophy that prioritises peace over vengeance.
The olive branch extended by Sudi reflects a growing trend among public figures who advocate for restorative justice approaches rather than punitive measures.
