Uhuru Ally Jeremiah Kioni Dares Gachagua to Name Faces Behind Abductions

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has challenged former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to name those responsible for the increased abductions in the country, as he had earlier threatened.

In a statement on his official X page on Thursday, Kioni warned Gachagua from using the abduction cases as theatrics, noting that lives are at risk.

According to the ally of Uhuru Kenyatta, Gachagua’s move to remain silent if indeed he knows the culprit is irresponsible and a slap to the ailing families.

He was referring to Gachagua’s sentiments made on Friday, December 27, where the former DP threatened to reveal the identities of individuals behind a covert unit allegedly responsible for abductions in the country.

“Rigathi Gachagua must stop trivializing the grave issue of abductions in the country. His statements about revealing those involved without following through with actionable disclosures are both irresponsible and a slap in the face to the families suffering from these tragedies,” Kioni noted.

The Jubilee Party leader has challenged the former DP to refrain from misleading the nation with baseless allegations if he cannot provide concrete information. He warned Gachagua from using the abductions to play politics.

“The nation deserves decisive leadership, not theatrics. Lives are at stake, and this matter demands the utmost seriousness. Playing politics with such a sensitive issue is unacceptable and a betrayal of public trust,” Kioni continued.

Following the increased cases of abductions in the country, Gachagua threatened to reveal more details on the alleged covert unit that operates independently of the Inspector General of Police and is led by a man he identified only as “Abel,” a relative of a senior government official.

“There is a unit that is not under the command of the Inspector General of Police. It operates out of a building on the 21st floor in Nairobi’s city center, led by a certain “Mr. Abel,” a cousin to a very senior official in this government,” Gachagua claimed.

“If this unit is not dismantled, we will reveal the name of the building and the full identities of the officer and his cousin,” the former DP threatened.

The former DP was commenting on the cases of abductions, with the latest incident involving the disappearance of six youths that were abducted during the Christmas holiday.

While the country is still in limbo over who is responsible for these abductions, President William Ruto assured Kenyans that the Kenya Kwanza government will ensure that the abductions end.
