National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of being responsible for the increased cases of abductions in the country.
Speaking during the burial of Moses Wetangula’s mother on Friday, January 3, Ichung’wah accused Gachagua of orchestrating the abductions. The remarks come barely a week after Gachagua took a swipe at President William Ruto over the abductions.
While attacking Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, who was also present during the burial, Ichung’wah blamed Natembeya for not using the powers he had during his tenure as the Police Regional Commander to expose those behind the abductions.
“Gachagua was the orchestrator of abductions so that he could put the blame on President Ruto. Shame on you Governor Natembeya. You cannot complain about abductions when you were the key abductor of Kenyans under the last regime,” Ichung’wah said.

The remarks were made in fiery remarks aimed at Natembeya, who, while addressing mourners, called for an end to the abductions, sparking what became a scathing attack on the former officer.
Natembeya received a hostile reception at the burial, where the supremacy battle between him and Wetangula was evident as mourners jeered at him.
“We want abductions to end. The youth are using foul language on social media. That needs to change. If it cannot change, people should not be killed or abducted because of it,” Natembeya noted.
Ichung’wah went on to blame the Governor for dividing the people of the Western communities ethnically through incitive politics. According to Ichung’wah, Natembeya will not be successful in his bid to divide the people.
He compared Natembeya’s alleged division of the community to that of former President Rigathi Gachagua, who was accused of promoting ethnic division in the country.
“The divisive politics that you are promoting will not be successful. Your leader in divisive and ethnical politics, former President Rigathi Gachagua, is the one behind the abductions,” Ichung’wah continued.
Ichungwa warned the governor against selling fear to the people of the western region.
Furthermore, the majority leader accused Natembeya of being behind the killings where bodies were discovered in river Yala and the Mau evictions.
“When you killed people and dumped them at River Yala, you were the Regional Commissioner in charge of abductions and murdering Kenyans, Shame on You,” Ichung’wah condemned Natembeya.
