Several Feared Dead After 2 Matatus Collide in Murang'a

Several passengers are feared dead in an accident involving two Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) along the Murang’a-Kenol Highway.

The two vehicles, a Murang’a Shuttle and a Nakkons Sacco PSV were involved in the crash in the Wanjii area of Murang’a County.

Images seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed the wreckage of the tragic Monday morning accident with the metallic pieces of both vehicles splattered across the highway.

Among those involved in the accident was a section of staff from the Mwai Kibaki Hospital who were traveling via the Nakkons Sacco Matatu from Nairobi to Othaya.

Those injured have since been transferred to the Murang’a Hospital for specialised treatment.

At the time of publishing this article, the exact number of casualties as well as the cause of the crash was yet to be determined.

As the festive season drew to a close over the past few days, the accident comes at a time when most people are travelling back to their workplaces.

The holiday in itself reported several other accidents with the most fatal being the December 24 crash that led to eight deaths along the Narok-Mai Mahiu highway.
