Media personalities and Kenyans have joined Radio Jambo presenter Cyrus Afune, known to listeners as Lion Deh, in mourning the death of his child.
The death was confirmed by show host Massawe Japanni on Wednesday, January 8.
Lion Deh is a long-time co-host of Daniel Mwangi (Mbusi) on the popular evening drive show ‘Mbusi na Lion Teke Teke’.
According to reports from the sister outlets, the child died as a result of a brain bleed caused by a fall from a balcony. Details of the incident remain unclear at the moment.

Japanni while confirming the news, took a moment to mourn with the presenter and confirmed he would miss his evening show.
“I cannot even imagine a parent losing a child, so fans of Lion, he will not make it for the show due to the loss,” stated Japanni.
Lion Deh is yet to publicly comment on the loss. However, messages of sympathy and support have been pouring in from fans on social media.
The loss comes barely three years after the reggae disc jerky overcame health challenges. Lion Deh was hospitalised due to severe anaemia in March 2022.
Lion Deh has established himself as a prominent figure in the reggae music and broadcasting landscape of Kenya. Partnering with Mbusi for over ten years, they began their journey together at Ghetto Radio.
Their dynamic rapport and captivating content have made their programme a favourite among reggae fans. Despite receiving numerous job offers from different stations, Lion Deh has chosen to stay with Radio Jambo, reinforcing his reputation within Kenya’s reggae community.
In addition to his work in radio, he is also a savvy entrepreneur and event planner, having co-founded Hakuna Mbrrrr Entertainment, which focuses on producing reggae-themed events.
