Parents to urged instill moral values in their children – Kenya News Agency

Elders in Migori County have appealed to parents to instill moral values in their children, following the current misuse of social media by youths to ridicule political leaders.

Speaking to the press during the election of the elders to the Kanyamkago Council of Elders in North Kanyamkago ward in Uriri Sub County, the chairman of the elders Micheal Akumba encouraged guardians to inculcate good habits in their children to help shape their upright upbringing.

Akumba added that the virtue of obedience will build good morals for children that will enable them to be responsible citizens.

The chairman affirmed that the elders will work hand in hand with the government to aid in maintaining law and order at the village level.

The elected Vice Chair of the Kanyamkago Council of Elders, Benard Kisia stated that the elected council of elders will help the community to ensure the future generation is law-abiding and hard-working.

“The Gen Z issue is what we are discussing so that we have a society that will behave as we behaved when we were young,” said Kisia.

The elders however voiced their concerns to some of the elected leaders across the country for using vulgar language and condemning the youths.

They said that as much as youths are wrong to spread unethical content on social media, the political class should show maturity and direct the youths; to enable them to copy their good examples.
