”Am overwhelmed and honoured to let you know that I have been shortlisted for the top 50 of the 9th Global Teacher Prize! This wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of my amazing people, like you. Keep me in your prayers to carry the trophy home by the end of the competition,” Orina stated.
”My students, parents, teachers, and the entire community let us share this blessing. Improving people’s lives through education is our priority. Glory be to God,” he added.
Orina on his contributions that attracted the attention of the organizers includes using his funds to buy agricultural input for training students how to practice smart farming.
The students are further encouraged to take their ideas home, from where they can use the output to supplement their families’ diets and incomes.
Apart from that, the teacher who mainly relies on the use of social media to demonstrate his art and passion has been identifying children from needy backgrounds and often inviting well-wishers to contribute to the children.
Among the items that he solicits support from the public for the children include school uniforms, shoes, and other essentials.
The last time a Kenyan participated in the award was in 2019 when Mwalimu Peter Tabichi from Keriko Mixed Day Secondary School in Pwani Village, Nakuru County participated and won the award.
The award is organized by the AKS Education Awards and aims to honor teachers who demonstrate innovation, dedication, and outstanding achievements in inspiring students and advancing education worldwide.
Winners receive global recognition, a certificate of excellence, and a platform to share their inspiring stories, further motivating educators to raise the bar in education standards.
