Journalist Ken Mijungu has quit KTN.
Through a statement online, Mijungu confirmed his exit from KTN News which is under Standard Group PLC, after four years at the media house.
“A good dancer knows when to exit the stage! 4 years of absolute adrenaline and nothing but the best; as unpredictable as it was, it is time to find something else to do when I still can,” Mijungu stated.
“Forever grateful to God, my colleagues at Standard Group PLC and KTN News. Adios!” he added.

While speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Mijungu revealed the cause for his departure from KTN was contract-related. “I did not renew my contract,” he disclosed.
Mijungu, however, remained silent on his next move in the media industry, where he has close to two decades of experience.
Even so, sources close to Kenyans.co.ke indicated that Mijungu is set to land a job at Cape Media, the firm that owns TV47 and Radio 47. The firm was established by Mount Kenya University founder and billionaire Prof. Simon Gicharu.
Mijungu, who is a trained lawyer, became a journalist amid the 2007/2008 post-election skirmishes. During the skirmish, he borrowed a camera from his brother to document the unfolding events in Kibera.
At that time, a K24 news crew had lost their footage due to the chaos. Mijungu’s footage caught the attention of K24’s management, leading to his recruitment as a reporter.
He worked at K24 for approximately three years and nine months, taking on roles such as news desk reporter, business talk anchor, and talk show host.
In December 2012, he joined CCTV Africa (now CGTN Africa) as a reporter, covering significant assignments like the Mpila military base explosion in Congo Brazzaville and the London conference on Somalia.
After a year and three months, he transitioned to Nation Media Group’s NTV in February 2013, serving as a senior reporter and host of the current affairs show “Sidebar.” He remained with NTV for seven years until July 2020.
In December 2020, Mijungu made a notable return to television by joining Standard Group’s KTN News as a news anchor, serving until his departure in 2025.
