The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has clarified on the final dates for the Kenya Junior Education Assessment (KJSEA) dates.
In a post making rounds on social media, it was alleged that the KJSEA exams would begin on October 27, 2025, and end in November 2025. However, KNEC has flagged the post as fake.
The post further alleged that KNEC had already conducted piloting on the KJSEA exams using the current Grade 8 learners in 235 schools alluding that the piloting had been done from July 15 to July 19, 2024.

The fake post also issued a rogue schedule of the papers set up.
Taking to its official X (formerly Twitter) account, KNEC cautioned Kenyans to be ware of the post, and disregard it as it was not factual.
The examination council announced that the information did not emanate from them, and warned Kenyans to be on the lookout and ensure they consume content only from their official accounts or official communication by the Ministry of Education.
KNEC is yet to release the official dates for the KJSEA exams. However, the examining body provided sample assessment papers for Grade 9 students as practice materials for the students as they prepare for their assessments in various subjects throughout their junior secondary education.
Grade 9 students preparing for the exams and teachers can access the practical assessment papers on the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portal for access by all schools.
The sample papers cover a wide range of subjects including English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Pre-technical Studies, Integrated Science, and others that are part of the junior secondary curriculum.
KNEC is exploring different ways to find out the different interests of the Grade 9 students even as they transition to Junior Secondary.
In December 2024, KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njengere announced that apart from the achievement assessments that are already administered at grade 9, students will also be undertaking questionnaires to shape their future.
