Nairobi County Chief Executive Committee Member for Environment Geoffrey Mosiria revealed that he will back Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja for the 2027 General Election.
In an exclusive interview with Kenyans.co.ke, Mosiria disclosed that he will support Sakaja’s re-election bid adding that he does not intend to vie for any office.
“In 2027, Mosiria will be behind Governor Sakaja supporting him to get a second term so that I continue doing my work,” Mosiria stated.
“I am not vying for any office. I am a civil servant and I am still a county employee. Before I came to this position (CECM Environment), I was still a county employee. Once I leave this position, I will go back to my previous position, (CECM Health) still as a county employee,” he added.
Mosiria, who has served as CECM for Environment for the past five months, has rapidly gained popularity and infamy in almost equal measure for his tough stance in enforcing national and county environment laws.
On one hand, a section of Nairobi residents have applauded his efforts such as cracking down on entertainment joints in residential areas or cracking the whip on food vendors who conduct their businesses without adhering to sanitation standards.
However, another section of residents, mostly business owners, have differed with the approach of documenting his efforts through recording videos and posting on his social media platforms. Many argue that Mosiria could ‘move in silence’ without having to draw much attention to his work.
However, Mosiria dismissed the naysayers in his interview noting, “When people comment on my videos calling it PR (public relations), you can just call it PR but already you have gotten the message that is stop polluting the environment.”
Mosiria further defended his digital media exhibitions adding that President William Ruto also used his social media platform to keep Kenyans updated on the nation’s affairs and new developments.
“Even the President uses content to pass information to Kenyans. That is why you see him constantly updating you, ‘Today I was here launching this project, etc,’” he expressed.
The tough-talking Mosiria maintained that the main aim behind his content creation was to educate the masses adding that the fame and popularity were just a by-product of his efforts.
It remains to be seen whether Mosiria will keep his word regarding the upcoming 2027 polls as the political landscape heats up. However, he still disclosed that if he was not a civil servant he would have been a pastor.
