Makueni County Government through the Department of Lands, Urban Planning and Development and Environment has launched Ardhi System to help in registration of land related matters in the area.

The system was launched by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr on Tuesday at Makueni Integrated Vocational Education Centre (MIVEC) where he disclosed that there will be efficiency and transparency in provision of services to wananchi.

Among the issues that will be catered through the Ardhi System include payment of property rates and rent, plot searches, application of construction permits, clearance certificates and other development permissions.

“Land ownership is a fundamental right, and we must ensure that accessing land services is easy transparent and corruption free,” said Mutula while launching the system.

“The Makueni Ardhi System will not only improve efficiency but also increase revenue collection for better service delivery,” he added.

He observed that his government was committed in leveraging on technology for efficiency delivery of services to wananchi and reduce bureaucratic delays in provision of services.

Speaking at the event, Makueni Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili said that the system will improve accountability and governance.

“For years land issues have been marred by inefficiencies and corruption. With this system, we are ensuring land transactions are transparent, and residents’ access services from anywhere and anytime,” said Mulili.

The system has boarded 32,332 plots from 27,000 plots before the development of Ardhi System in the county. The county government targets to raise Sh 170 million in own source revenue from land based revenue streams in 2024/2025 financial year.

The system is accessible online at www.lims.makueni.go.ke.
