Moi University Staff Resume Strike Days After Calling it Off

After a month of holding its 46th graduation ceremony, Moi University has invited graduates to pick their certificates and transcripts beginning Wednesday, February 19 to Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

In an official notice to graduates, Moi University Deputy Vice-Chancellor Khaemba Ongeti directed the graduates to strictly adhere to the 49-day schedule presented when picking their certificates.

“Strictly come on the date allocated to your school and program as per your serial number in the graduation booklet,” the notice read in part.

Further, the students have been directed to show up with an original identity card, KCSE Certificate, and a copy (for Bachelors and Diploma Graduands) and an original Bachelor’s Degree Certificate and Copy for Masters Graduands.

According to the schedule, graduates from the School of Tourism, Hospitality, and Events Management will be the first to take their certificates on Wednesday, February 19. The School of Dentistry and School of Public Health will follow on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

The School of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the School of Information Sciences, Medicine, and Engineering will pick their certificates and transcripts starting Friday next week to the last week of February.

The School of Arts and Social Sciences will pick up their certificates from March 4 to March 10, while the School of Business and Economics will pick them up from Tuesday, March 11 to Monday, March 17.

Students from the School of Education are to pick up their certificates from Tuesday, March 18 to Monday, April 7.

Bomet University College will be last to pick up their certificates from April 8 to Wednesday, April 9.

The developments come after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba inaugurated the new council for Moi University last month. Ogamba is banking on the fresh team to restore the lost glory of the institution.

The CS said the government took the bold decision to fire the old council that had led to the poor management of Moi University.
