In a significant development, the National Police Reservists (NPR) have successfully traced and retrieved a herd of 24 stolen goats, marking a major success in the ongoing efforts to combat livestock theft and bolster security in the region.
The operation, which was carried out swiftly and efficiently, underscores the increasing effectiveness of the NPR in protecting property and maintaining peace in the area.
Speaking at Sokotough in Pokot Central, Chesegon Location, the Director for Peace Rev. Jackson Alukusia, emphasized the importance of providing a good living environment for the National Police Reservists (NPR) to ensure the success of their patrols in the area.
“It is essential that we provide a good living environment for the National Police Reservists. Their welfare is key to ensuring that patrols are carried out effectively, maintaining peace and security in this region,” stated Alukusia.
He stated that the government and relevant authorities are committed to improving the conditions under which NPR officers operate, recognizing that their welfare is crucial to ensuring effective and sustained security operations.
Rev. Alukusia added that a well-equipped and comfortable living situation for the NPR will directly contribute to the effectiveness of their patrols and efforts to maintain peace in the region.

He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the local peace committee, chiefs, and assistant chiefs for their instrumental role in ensuring the successful return of the 24 goats stolen by bandits at the Pokot Chesegon border.
“Their quick response and coordination with the NPR were critical in tracking down the stolen goats and returning them to their rightful owners,’’ Alukusia stated.
He encouraged the community to remain vigilant and continue reporting any suspicious activities to the authorities, assuring them that the NPR would work tirelessly to apprehend those responsible.
According to the NPRs, the swift action prevented further escalation of the raid, ensuring the safe return of the stolen animals to their rightful owners.
