Microsoft has announced Microsoft Edge Game Assist, a new Edge-powered in-game browser overlay, is available for beta testing in Windows 11. The “Game-Aware” overlay lives in the Microsoft Game Bar and is designed to automatically find links and show you tips and guides for the games you're playing using the Edge browser.
Game Assist uses the profile you're logged in to in Edge, so it will give you access to your data like cookies, autofill, and favorites, so “you don't have to log in to sites again.” Like other Game Bar widgets, you can pin it above your game while you play. Game Assist is currently available in English, and to use it you'll need to opt for the preview and set Microsoft Edge Beta 132 as your default browser.
Here's a video of the feature in action:
You'll still have to find content yourself for most games, but the Game-Aware portion of Game Assist will automatically display information for some games, including baldur's gate 3,diablo iv, And Hellblade II: Senua's SagaMicrosoft says it will add support for others “throughout the preview and over time.”
In the second video, Microsoft shows what the overlay looks like when used with a video guide:
Microsoft says it's collecting feedback in a few ways:
You can share your feedback by visiting Game Assist Settings and more , send feedbackYou can also vote on what features you'd like to see added to Game Assist using the new Game Assist Community Feedback PortalAnd we will monitor the feedback r/MicrosoftEdgeX, and other social channels too.
Game Assist only supports mouse and keyboard input at the moment, but Microsoft writes that it's adding support for handhelds and gamepads in the future. The company says that compact mode support is also coming later.
