Gathoni Wamuchomba to Pay School Fees for Viral Man who Protested Adani Deals

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has promised to support the education of a man featured in a viral video protesting the Adani-JKIA takeover deal.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the MP is seen encouraging the young man to sit up straight and be confident, further praising his excellent grasp of the English language.

“This man is very intelligent. Considering his level of education, he speaks very good English. When I was told that he dropped out, I was surprised because he speaks like a very intelligent person. He just needs to be supported,” Wamuchomba says.

“He wants a bag, a laptop, and new clothes. We also agreed that he would go to school. I promised to cater for that and all that is left is the laptop and the bag so that when he goes to school next term he will not suffer.”

The MP also promised to fulfill the rest of the promises before he flew back to Siaya.

In addition to these promises, she also stated that she had secured the help of a dentist who promised to fix his teeth.

“Here is our Legend! Tomorrow we visit a dentist (who offered services pro bono From X platform. Thank you all so much,”  Wamuchomba wrote on X on Tuesday.

She further promised to always be there for him whenever he was in Nairobi and acknowledged comedian Eric Omondi’s efforts to help him as well.

Two days ago, Eric Omondi paid airfare for the man to take his first plane ride from Siaya to Nairobi and revealed that he had been enrolled at a Technical and Vocational Training Center (TVET) where he is training to be a mechanic.

“Finally! The Legend boy of Tumekataa Adani JKIA is here courtesy of Eric Omondi. Luckily Eric Omondi had already enrolled him for TVET training in Siaya and has done one term. I commit to support to completion,” Wamuchomba said when she met the man at the airport.

To those interested in helping the course, the MP urged them to get in touch with either her or Eric Omondi.

In the video that thrust him into the limelight, the man was heard condemning the deal, shouting, “He is selling the airport. He is selling to an Indian. Who is he to sell the airport?” during a march towards JKIA.

The deal has since been cancelled following the indictment of the Adani Group CEO Gautam Adani by the Department of Justice (DOJ) in the United States over bribery.
