Lawyer Willis Otieno Says Ruto is Beatable in 2027

Lawyer Willis Otieno has claimed that President William Ruto is currently at his weakest politically and is likely to lose the 2027 general elections.

According to the lawyer, the key pillars that helped the President secure victory in 2022 are now against him, significantly reducing his chances of re-election in 2027.

Otieno further alleged that the President is now relying on the goodwill of the Nyanza people and Raila Odinga’s strategic support to shield him from a growing wave of nationwide discontent.

“He is very weak, he is surviving on Raila Odinga as the only pillar. And we don’t know how long he will continue to hold on to him because even Raila must assume his policies to the interests of the people, ” the lawyer alleged.

The lawyer has alleged that Ruto is no longer charming to the people and that the people have rejected the him.

“His first pillar was the people, and right now the people have abandoned him, starting with those from Mt. Kenya. It’s not just them; most people have rejected him,” Otieno continued.

The lawyer argued that the church, Members of Parliament, and other factors the President relied on are now crumbling, leaving Ruto in a vulnerable position as 2027 approaches.

Willis challenged Kenyans to consider the possibility that Ruto is beatable and to work towards ensuring he does not hold on to power for a second term.

Although President Ruto has yet to officially announce his candidacy, he is widely expected to run again in 2027.

Ruto’s options for 2027 have narrowed after the dramatic ouster of Rigathi Gachagua, all his hopes are now on Raila, according to the lawyer.

In recent days, their friendship appears to be strengthening, with ODM MPs accompanying Ruto to various functions, including church services, and vigorously defending the government’s controversial decisions.

In a strategic move seemingly aimed at bolstering his re-election prospects, Ruto sought to strike a political deal with Raila, an experienced politician who enjoys widespread support across the country.

Raila also proved instrumental in stabilising Ruto’s embattled Kenya Kwanza administration during the nationwide wave of youth-led protests in June and July.
