Several people are feared to be injured after a morning accident along the Eldoret-Nakuru Highway on Monday, December 2, 2024.
The accident, which occurred three kilometres from Salgaa town at Sobea, involved a pick-up and a trailer ferrying petroleum products.
Reports reaching our desk suggest that the pick-up collided head-on with the truck, which was fortunate not to have caught fire, as it was carrying a highly flammable substance.
Images of the accident, obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, showed the extent of the crash, with one of the vehicles completely mangled.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after the accident to contain the situation, as a large crowd gathered to observe the grisly scene.
Incidentally, the Eldoret-Nakuru Highway has gained an infamous reputation as a hotspot, particularly because of the heavy presence of trucks.
Since August, at least six incidents have been recorded along the busy road, some with devastating consequences.
In one incident on November 5, 2024, a truck transporting wood heading toward Nakuru collided with a canter carrying tomatoes travelling in the opposite direction. Four people lost their lives.
Weeks, later, on November 23, a diesel tanker was also reported to have burst into flames at Cheptiret along the busy Eldoret – Nakuru highway.
Further back on August 13, people lost their lives at the infamous Migaa areas along the Salgaa stretch of the Nakuru-Eldoret highway after a passenger bus driver lost control of his vehicle and rammed into a Toyota Passo.
Four days after that incident, one person was killed after the bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident in the Twin Bridge area along the same highway.
A majority of accidents along this highway have been attributed to driver negligence, reckless overtaking, and poor vision, especially at night.
