By the time of publishing this story, the number of casualties, if any, was yet to be established.

The tragedy came just a few weeks after six people died and 16 others sustained injuries following a fire outbreak on Tuesday night in the Majengo area of Kamukunji.

The neighbourhood which has suffered several fire breakouts in the past has often reported casualties.

In a night fire on September 17,  a family was left mourning the loss of three siblings aged 16, 8, and 4.7 years old

A month later on October 17, neighbouring Mukuru Kwa Reuben also suffered a tragedy of its own when fire razed down houses and destroyed property of unknown value.

The most recent fire in Nairobi however, was on November 30, when Ngara Market went up in flames on Friday night.

Millions worth of property was destroyed in the section of the open-air economic zone which houses hundreds of small-scale traders selling all manner of merchandise.

Firefighters contain a fire in two different instances.
