Cover Story: Rehabilitation through Art: Breaking the Cycle of Incarceration
The critically acclaimed film “Sing Sing,” starring Colman Domingo and newcomer Clarence Macklin, was inspired by a theater program at New York's notorious Sing Sing prison, where inmates engaged in the performing and visual arts led to a decline in recidivism rates. “Sunday Morning” senior correspondent Ted Koppel visited the theater program at Sing Sing with some of the formerly incarcerated people (who make up most of the film's cast) to talk about how acting really helped. Changed their lives.
