black magic has announced Its URSA Cine Immersive commercial camera for shooting high-quality 3D immersive video is now available for pre-order “direct from the Blackmagic Design Office,” with first deliveries scheduled for early 2025. The camera, which can enable more immersive content for the Vision Pro, costs $29,995 – or just $8.6 for the Vision Pro.

First Revealed in JuneCine Immersive will let cinematographers shoot 90fps video in stereoscopic 3D at 8160 x 7200 resolution per eye – or more than twice the projected per-eye resolution of the Vision Pro's screen. They will be able to edit footage in DaVinci Resolve Studio using the proprietary Apple immersive video format, for which Blackmagic plans to add support early next year.

Blackmagic Design CEO Grant Petty said the Davinci update will enable “a true end-to-end workflow for Apple immersive video.” He said the company is “looking forward to working closely with filmmakers” on immersive video before the camera's wide release in 2025.

Blackmagic included camera images in their email The VergeIt looks good, so I've included them for your perusal:

Vision Pro has some extensive content outside of Apple's video – in apps like Amplium or Explore POV – but none of them have the quality of Apple's video. Until now, Apple has been the only company creating content with its format, and there are only a few such videos available at the moment. This may eventually change, if studios take advantage of Blackmagic's new cameras and Davinci updates.
