Additionally, the authority revealed that the passenger train will be plying a one-way route between the two cities.
Kenya Railways added that the new service train will take about six hours, to commute between Nairobi and Mombasa.
“The train will depart from Nairobi at 10:30 am and is scheduled to arrive at 4:30 pm,” the Authority announced.
The Madaraka Express is known for its efficiency and comfort, providing a vital link for both passengers and freight.
To book, passengers were encouraged to visit www.metickets.co.ke to secure limited slots or check the Kenya Railways website.
The announcement comes against the backdrop of recent changes on the train operational timelines announced by President William Ruto.
On December 3, Ruto directed the return of the stopover for the Madaraka Express train at Voi, a directive that was immediately ratified by the Kenya Railways.
This was after residents who ply the route requested that the Madaraka Express train make a stopover in Voi to enable them to travel at night and facilitate their businesses.
“I have directed the Transport Ministry, and they have confirmed that from December 15, the train will start the night stop over at Voi,” Ruto directed.
