The Minority Leader in the National Assembly, Junet Mohamed, has commended President William Ruto for his recent decision to nominate close allies of former President Uhuru Kenyatta to key government positions.
Speaking during the launch of the Junet Mohamed Football Tournament in Suna East, Migori County, the lawmaker said the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) fully supported the president’s move.
He stated that President Ruto’s recent decision to make changes within the Cabinet was a sign of inclusivity and diversity that the Kenyan people had long desired.
According to him, as long as a person possessed the requisite qualifications to perform a specific role in government, there was no need for complaints.

“Now the broad-based government is becoming broader, it has expanded because this government is for all Kenyans, the function of the government is to work for the government,” Junet said.
“As long as the person has the experience to work in the government then they should be allowed to do the job. We support the president’s recent appointments,’ he added.
The vocal legislator further called on Kenyans to embrace unity and exercise patriotism towards their nation adding that it was the only way the country could progress.
On Thursday, December 19, President Ruto nominated William Kabogo, Lee Kinyanjui, and Mutahi Kagwe to cabinet secretary positions for Information Communication and Technology, Trade, and Agriculture, respectively.
The Head of State also nominated Ndiritu Muriithi as Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) chairperson while Ababu Namwamba was nominated as Permanent Representative of Kenya to the United Nations Environment Programme.
Additionally, the president also nominated former Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to the Interior and Coordination cabinet position.
Ruto’s decision to announce the changes followed a week after a closed-door meeting with Uhuru Kenyatta at the latter’s home in Ichaweri, Kiambu County.
The surprise meeting between the duo raised eyebrows among Kenyans and further sparked speculations about a potential reunion after years of political fallout.
