Police Officers in Homa Bay County have arrested seven people following the death of a fourth-year Tom Mboya University student.
The seven were arrested on Friday, December 21, after the area police officers found the student beaten, stripped and tied up inside a restaurant.
A police report revealed that the student was found tied with ropes on the hands and legs with multiple injuries on the head alleged to have been caused by the beating he received.
The officers raided the restaurant after receiving an alert about the incident from the Homa Bay County Enforcement Officer who informed the police about the torture of the student at the joint.

According to the police, they found the student’s hands tied to a metal bar and bleeding profusely, depicting the extent of torture the learner underwent at the hands of his assailants.
Moments after being rushed to the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital, the boy succumbed due to injuries while receiving treatment at the facility.
His death prompted the officers to arrest seven workers at the local establishment, whom the police believe may have been involved in the incident.
Following the student’s death, the body was taken to the hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem. Meanwhile, the seven suspects are set to remain in custody as investigations continue.
In a similar incident two months ago, a female student at the Univerity of Nairobi (UoN) was found murdered in Mwiki, Nairobi by unknown people.
The body of the 20-year-old Chiromo Campus student was found on September 28, inside a thicket while half naked and with serious injuries on the head and limbs.
According to a police report, a blanket was found next to the girl’s body with family members claiming that the blanket did not belong to the deceased.
Homicide detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the girl is believed to have been lured from her house in the Pipeline area and later either kidnapped or poisoned before she was brutally murdered.
