new Orleans – A scrawny white terrier named Scream has captured the hearts of many people in New Orleans, who are hoping to help him get back to a safe, easy life in the Big Easy.

Scream, who has already been rescued twice this year, doesn't know what's good for him. His habit of escaping from helping hands and his elusive catch-if-you-can attitude have propelled Doggo to go viral.

Michelle Cheramie with Zeus Rescues first rescued Scream from a life on the streets earlier this year – but in April, he was broken down.

For several months after his escape from the spring, Cheramie and several neighbors in New Orleans searched tirelessly for Scrim, but to no avail. Hundreds of people commented and posted photos of his whereabouts on social media and words of encouragement for people trying to help the lost dog.

“During the six months he was on the street, he was shot twice, so yes, humans are very scary to him,” Cheramie said.

It seemed as if Scrim was more difficult to track down than Bigfoot, but eventually in October, Scrim was found.

Once again, he found he had a roof over his head. He received medical treatment for his wounds and was also recognized by the New Orleans City Council.

But inside his life could not last long.

“We were just trying to teach him that human hands are really good, and not all human hands kick you, and not all human legs kick you, and we had to take some time to explain that to him.” It took months, and finally he came,” Cherami said. “He's in that flight mode again where humans are scary.”

On November 13, he jumped 13 feet from a second-floor screened window in Cheramy's home.

“He actually broke the screen and got out,” according to Cheramy, who said Scrim also managed to squeeze through a small hole in his front yard fence to complete his escape.

Now Cheramy is back to prowling the city's streets, and dozens of people have called in to report sightings of the scrim. this map Has been monitoring Scream's activities for the last 11 days.

Cherami roams the streets in her rescue van every day in search of scrim.

“Once we see Scrim, we'll need everything we can to save him,” Cheramie said. “I've got a dart rifle, we've got mesh guns…it shoots and engages him, and then we can jump on him.”

Cheramie is also installing cameras at various locations where the scrim has been spotted.

One night, a camera captures him eating some food left for her, so Cherami is comforted to know that he is still alive and well.

Now she's hoping to bring Scream home permanently — ideally in time for a proper Thanksgiving feast.

“I'm pretty sure he's cold wherever he is,” Cheramy said. “He's so smart that maybe he's under a house somewhere and he's getting some warmth, but no one knows for sure at this point.”
