Authorities in Mississippi are searching for a convicted murderer who they say escaped prison Tuesday and who they say is “desperate.”
The George County Sheriff's Office says 33-year-old Drew Johnson managed to break out of the South Mississippi Correctional Institution in Leakeville.

In a post on Facebook, the office says Johnson would be “desperate and very dangerous. Call your family and alert them. Send them messages and get responses. People tend to be more lenient and take precautions during Christmas. Be alert and careful. Please share this.”
Johnson was convicted in Rankin County, Mississippi in February 2022 and later sentenced to life in prison.
