Turkana County Government and partners have committed to align the school feeding program distribution schedule to promote efficiency.

Coming at a time when the schools have opened for the first term in the year 2025, County Executive for Education, Sport and Social Protection Willyjustus Lopeyok said the move was to avoid duplication in the food distribution.

Speaking during a meeting with Mary’s Meal, one of the partners supporting the school feeding programme, the County Executive said that synchronizing food distribution would maximize the reach and impact of the program. This would ensure that all targeted learners are adequately fed.

Mary’s Meal Country Director, Chris Wakube, welcomed the initiative to harmonize supplies and highlighted that it was the county’s responsibility to share data to facilitate the process.

The Education CEC (Lopeyok) and Mary’s Meal representative further deliberated on gaps affecting the school feeding programs with the intention of seeking solutions.

Gracing the meeting were, Director for ECDE Ezekiel Kulal , Deputy director ECDE Alice Ejem, administrators Esther Lokai (Deputy Director) , Chris Etoot (Principal) and Alice Akiru.
