Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi on Tuesday, January 14, was driven to Kilimani Police Station to record a statement over the abduction of his son at the height of the anti-government protests in June.
Footage obtained by Kenyans.co.ke showed the CS arriving at the station with media cameras in tow where he proceeded to record the statement.
In the footage, the CS met the Kilimani OCS among other police bosses who later engaged in a conversation that the media was shut out of
This comes days after the CS hit out at the government about the increased abductions in the wake of the protests.

Muturi, who despite being in government, was an affected party after the enforced disappearance of his son who was later released. His comments came as a huge surprise as it was perceived as going against the grain. This has resulted in speculation mounting over his future in President William Ruto’s government.
When addressing the media on Sunday, January 12, at Sarova Hotel, Muturi stated that little was done to secure his son’s release despite his standing at the time. He served as an Attorney General and a member of the National Security Council.
Hours later, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) responded inviting him to record a statement noting that his son’s case was already on record at DCI Kilimani.
“The alleged case of abduction involving CS Justin Muturi’s son is active before DCI Kilimani,” DCI stated.
“We wish to invite CS Muturi and any other person with information on the incident to record a statement with DCI Kilimani,” they noted.
Muturi’s comments were met with a fierce rebuttal from leaders allied to Ruto who castigated the CS over his move to lament about abductions through the media and not through ‘State’ channels.
Aldai MP Marianne Kitany went as far as demanding for his resignation adding that she would file a censure motion in Parliament if he failed to step down.
“CS Justin Muturi should resign. He cannot critique a government of which he is a part; it simply isn’t possible. If he does not resign, I will sponsor a censure motion against him in parliament,” Kitany stated.
“Cabinet is the highest decision-making body in the Republic of Kenya. Justin Muturi is a member of this Cabinet, and it is there that he should have sought answers concerning the abduction of his son,” she added.
Even so, Muturi has reiterated his resolve maintaining he will not be cowed into resignation over his recent marks.
