Detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a suspected kidnapper who reportedly abducted an Indian in Kasarani, Nairobi.
According to the DCI officers, the incident occurred on Tuesday, December 17, after the victim was lured into a house by a lady.
Upon getting inside, the lady signalled a 28-year-old man who stormed into the house and began threatening the victim, accusing him of entering his house without permission.
After several minutes of an altercation, the suspects ordered the Indian to share his family’s contacts whereby they demanded for ransom in exchange for his release.

Fearing for the safety of their kin, family members immediately raised Ksh310,000 as advance payment, before seeking police assistance at Parklands Police Station.
After receiving reports of the alleged abduction, the Head of Operations at DCI dispatched a team of crime researchers who forensically traced the suspects’ hideout in the Mirema area of Kasarani, Nairobi.
During the impromptu operation, the detectives managed to arrest the prime suspect, however, two more suspects managed to escape and are still at large.
Moments after the arrest, the officers went ahead to ransack the house where the victim had been held captive, during the search, the officers recovered a mobile phone used to call the victim’s family and kept it as an exhibit.
“The victim is a happy man after being reunited with his family. Meanwhile, the suspect will be arraigned tomorrow even as the pursuit for the other two continues,” DCI officers stated.
“Not so for the 28-year-old suspect who is cooling heels at a police facility, fighting hard to catch the smell of the thousands that slipped his fingers,” the detectives added.
The Kasarani arrest comes just days after DCI officers arrested a man who reportedly kidnapped himself after losing his November salary on betting.
Following his arrest, the detectives realised the 25-year-old man had inflicted cuts to his body in a bid to obtain Ksh100,000 as a ransom from his relatives.
