Dramatic video shows Phoenix police rescuing a man from a car submerged in a pool

Phoenix police released dramatic video Tuesday of an officer saving a man they say drove his car into a pool.

Video shows the car completely submerged in water when officers arrived after bystanders called 911 to report someone had fallen into the pool. The officer took off some of his gear and waded into the pool, where he climbed on top of the car, ripped off the sunroof and pulled out the unidentified driver, who was wearing a yellow safety jacket.

The officer can be heard on the body camera saying, “I've got you, I've got you, I've got you.” Video“Is there anyone else there?”

The person rescued was the only person in the car. He told the police that he had fallen into the pool after accidentally stepping on the gas too hard. After rescue, the person was taken to the hospital.

“Thanks to the officer's quick and courageous response, the man's life was saved,” police said in a Facebook post.
