Eastleigh Businessmen Ordered to Pay Fee in 30 Days or Lose Items to Auction

A Kenyan Company has issued a public notice directing the owners of a Sahan cargo laying at Eastleigh to claim it within the next 30 days or face consequences including auctioning of the goods.

The announcement was made via a Gazette Notice dated January 31 urging the owners to pay the accumulated fees before retrieving the cargo.

“Notice is given pursuant to the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act (Cap. 38) of laws of Kenya, to the owners and Sahan Cargo Limited currently lying at Eastleigh Premises within thirty (30) days from the date of publication of this notice, upon payment of accumulated storage charges, security cost together with other related costs and costs of this publication and any other incidental costs,” part of the statement read.

“Failure to which the same shall be disposed off under the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act, either by public Auction, tender, or private treat,y and proceeds of the sale be defrayed against all accrued charges without any further reference to the owners.”

The notice further listed all the bales of clothes, shoes, toys, utensils, and other merchandise, often sold in the bustling market as some of the items available.

Topping the weighing scale is a consignment of 110 masks weighing 2,320 kilogrammes followed by 14 pieces of silicon socks weighing 451 kilogrammes.

Six pieces of laboratory equipment weighing 336.1 kilogrammes are also available as well as a piece of pallette furniture weighing 284 kilogrammes.

More furniture including; 3 wooden Foldable Tables, 6 Foldable Picnic Baskets, and 25 Picnic Blankets are available weighing 287 kilogrammes.

328 more kilogrammes of laboratory test instruments and equipment are also available.

Other than these, smaller quantities of other assorted merchandise have also been listed as part of the cargo.

From high heels shoes weighing 0.05 kilogrammes to frying pans weighing 0.1 kilogrammes and babywalkers weighing 0.19 kilogrammes, almost everything is available.

Electric Scooters, umbrellas, televisions, phone covers, and female wigs are also part of the 213 items listed.
