Eldama Ravine sub county referral hospital has issued a 14 days’ ultimatum to members of the public to collect five unclaimed bodies at the facility.
Speaking to KNA outside the Baringo County Information Office, the hospital’s public health officer Dickson Kangogo stated that the unknown bodies which were received under different circumstances have been lying at the mortuary for more than six months.
Kangogo revealed that out of the five bodies, four are male while the female one is believed to have been caused by a suspected murder.
He stated that they have engaged with area chiefs where the incidents happened in an effort to trace the relatives without no avail.
The officer noted that continued stay of the bodies in the 18 holding capacity facility apart from posing a health risk will also incur the hospital huge electricity cost in preserving them.
“Reach out to your relatives, friends, neighbours and community if you have somebody who got lost within the period,” he said.
Kangogo stated that the hospital will give a window period of up to February 5 this year, when the hospital will have no option, but to dispose of the unclaimed bodies in a public cemetery according to the public health Act Cap 242.
