Elgeyo Marakwet governor Wisley Rotich has called on youth who scored C- and below in the just released KCSE to enroll in the various TVETs within and outside the county.
While congratulating those who made it to University and other middle level colleges, the governor said the country has invested heavily in Tvets to enable youth acquire skills.
Addressing the media in Iten, Rotich said his government had partnered with various organisations like the KCB and Pokot foundation who have been sponsoring young people in the various technical institutions.
The governor said it doesn’t matter the grade one got in the examinations but their willingness to learn and acquire a skill saying many youths were gifted in various skills and what they only need is exposure.
He therefore called on parents who may be discouraged that their children didn’t perform well not to give up saying they can acquire skills which will enable them become self-employed.
The governor added that youth with skills were better placed to get jobs outside the country under various government initiatives saying they were also an asset to the country as they engage in various startups.
