Former NTV journalist Kennedy Murithi Bundi has asked President William Ruto to appoint him for a state job.
Reacting after reports that Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) Margaret Ndung’u refused to accept Ruto’s appointment as the country’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Murithi asked the president to nominate him instead.
Taking to his official social media pages, the senior reporter, who was on NTV for ten years until January 2023, revealed that he was disappointed by the CS’s move to reject the position.
“I have received with utmost shock information that a former Cabinet Secretary has declined an opportunity offered to them by the president of the Republic of Kenya to serve as a High Commissioner in Ghana,” the former journalist stated.
Bundi went ahead to tender his application verbally, revealing that he would like to be appointed for that position that was rejected by the former CS.

“The president has asked us the youth, not to use the internet for bad manners. I want to use the internet to apply for that job. Please consider me to go and serve this nation in Ghana,” he continued.
The position fell vacant after NdNdung’u, in a letter to the Parliamentary Committee for Defence and Foreign Relations, declined her nomination, attributing it to personal reasons.
“Pursuant to Section 16 of the Public Appointment, Parliamentary Approval Act 3 of 2011, I wish to inform you that I will not appear before the said committee at the time and venue specified for the approval hearing,” the former CS wrote.
Ndung’u was appointed alongside former Sports CS Ababu Namwamba, who was nominated as the Permanent Representative of Kenya to the United Nations Environment Programme.
Namwamba appeared before the committee for vetting on Friday, January 10, where he assured of his commitment to the job and promised delivery.
Murithi is not new to these jobs and currently serves in the office of Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki as his political advisor. Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Murithi revealed that his role at the office of the governor does not hinder him from seeking the top job.
“Working at the governor’s office does not mean that I am limited. In life, we can never be content, and I am sure even when he hears that I have landed an ambassadorial job, he will be proud of me. He will acknowledge that the opportunity he gave me has placed me in a good place,” Murithi said.
