As cases of forced disappearances in the country continue across the country, the family of a University of Nairobi fourth-year student is seeking intervention from the government following the disappearance of their son.
Daniel Kamau, an Engineering student, is said to have gone missing while on his way home from school. The family revealed that Kamau was last seen on February 6, 2025, near Feruz along Kangundo Road.
Since then, his family has been distraught while searching for him with the last trace of his phone placing him in Kamulu before it was switched off. The family is in limbo and doesn’t know whether Kamau has been abducted or has just gone missing.
Efforts to report his disappearance to the police have bore no fruit as he has remained missing for over five days now.

“We realised his phone was traced around the Kamulu Antelope Avenue Area. We managed to mobilize some people who had gone around the area since Thursday evening trying to trace him with no help,” Joel Mwangi, Kamau’s brother revealed.
With tears in their eyes and uncertainties and only a ray of hope, the family is now seeking the government and well-wishers to help them trace Kamau, a son they describe as loving and responsible.
His classmates from the university also called on the government and the security authorities in the country to help find Kamau since his disappearance has brought tension among them.
Kamau’s family has joined the long list of families who are still searching for their missing kin. Hardly a week ago Nakuru Law Court judge  Justice Nangea left the family of Brian Odhiambo in tears and hopeless after they dismissed his case ruling that that there was no sufficient evidence to prove that Brian had been detained by KWS officers.
As a result, he declined to issue any further directions in the case leaving the family in oblivion.
Elsewhere, protests broke out in Dandora Phase 1 following the reported disappearance of a resident. Residents and bodaboda riders flooded the streets demanding the whereabouts of their fellow residents.
These cases of forced disappearances continue to cause tension in the country, with Kenyans revealing that they no longer feel safe in their own country.
Leaders including President Ruto, IG Police Douglas Kanja and DCI officials have repeatedly promised that these cases of forced disappearances will end.
