The government, through the National Land Commission(NLC), has announced plans to allocate land in Nyandarua and Kericho Counties.
Through a notice on Tuesday, December 31, NLC revealed a 0.99-acre piece of land would be allocated to the general public and any other interested parties.
“Notice is hereby given that the expiry of 30 days from the date of publication of this notice. The National Land Commission on behalf of the County government of Nyandarua intends to regulate the tenure of Olkalou Township/ Block V/ 453 of acreage 0990 Ha in Olkalou township for commercial use,” the notice read.
Regulation of the land tenure, according to NLC, will be subject to terms covenants, conditions and reservations which will need to be included in the conveyance documents between the government and the interested parties.

Further, persons who wish to raise comments on the land in question have been given 15 days after the notice is published.
Individuals or groups who wish to confirm the terms of the notice are also able to do so by visiting the NLC offices in Nairobi or Nyandarua County.
Notably, the allocation of the lands is set to take place on the next working day, upon the expiry of the notice.
On January 25, NLC is also set to share details of compensation to a different land owner, whose piece of land in Samburu East, for the development was identified by the Ministry of Interior and National Administration revealed plans to establish security infrastructure and a training facility.
Owners of the land, are required to write a claim for compensation before the day of the inquiry and present their a copy of identity card (ID), Personal Identification Number (PIN), land ownership documents, and bank account details for compensation.
The government has, in recent months tried to engage Kenyan in land matters for mutual benefit to both parties.
In October, NLC Chairperson Gershom Otachi announced that the commission on behalf of the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) will be acquiring 11 parcels of land to enable the roads agency to embark on the ambitious project.
Similarly, in December, the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) enticed over 50 landlords with compensation to facilitate the construction of towers and conductors overlying the individuals’ pieces of land.
