Tana River Sub County Children’s officer Ms. Maria Mbote has said that 3000 families would benefit from the Nutrition programme to fight malnutrition in children and pregnant women in both Galole and Garsen Constituencies.
Ms. Mbote said the Cash Transfer and Health Education (NICHE) programme targets children under three years and pregnant women in households under the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer programme.
Speaking to the press in her Hola office on Tuesday, Ms. Mbote said that 3000 families in each household would receive between Sh500 and Sh1000 on top of the monthly stipend offered under the Inua Jamii programme.
She also said that in the Inua Jamii programme, the government gives cash transfers to vulnerable families each month including the old people, orphans, people with disabilities and those stricken by drought.
