An interfaith community from Tharaka Nithi County has led the residents of the county in prayers seeking divine intervention to curb the rising road accidents.
In a heartfelt appeal for divine intervention, the Magumoni interfaith community gathered at Kimunyuru black spot to pray for the safety of their roads especially along the Meru- Embu highway.
The event, marked by unity and shared concern, saw key figures from the local clergy and community leaders come together in a powerful call for change and safety amid a troubling surge in road accidents.
Leading the congregation, Reverend Patrick Kirimi from the PCEA Church Magumoni called on the government to take immediate action by installing speed bumps at critical points along accident-prone highway.
Specifically, he highlighted the need for bumps at Kiracha, Njuri Stage, and Kimunyuru, identifying these spots as notorious black spots.
The man of the cloth further urged drivers, especially miraa and muguka, vehicle drivers to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, emphasizing that many accidents are caused by reckless driving.
In his address, Reverend Kirimi thanked the security team for providing traffic police to ensure the safety of attendees during the prayer session, underscoring the importance of such support in maintaining order and security at public gatherings.
Other members of the clergy present echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of communal prayer in seeking God’s protection and intervention to halt the tragic loss of lives.
They called upon local leaders to unite in ensuring that speed bumps are installed in the designated areas to reduce accidents and save lives.
Retired Chief Justine Njagi reinforced the message of unwavering prayer and proactive measures. He assured the community that the Church would continue to pray without ceasing, akin on the spiritual responsibility to combat the evils of road accidents.
Njagi also urged drivers to curb their speeding, further emphasizing the necessity of speed bumps in the high-risk zones.
The interfaith prayer gathering was a testament to the power of unity and collective action, with attendees expressing gratitude for the shared commitment to making their roads safer.
The community’s heartfelt prayers and calls for practical solutions highlight their determination to protect lives and foster a safer environment for all.
