Kiambu Senator and key ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Karung’o Thangwa, on Thursday, assured the former DP was safe and sound following an attack against him in Limuru.
Thang’wa, in a statement released some hours after the incident, downplayed some fears that the former DP might have suffered injuries following the incident where he was forced to run from a burial event in fear for his life.
This occurred after Gachagua scampered for safety when a group of goons stormed the meeting, throwing stones and objects towards the dais where he was seated.
”It was an assassination attempt. But the people’s Deputy President is safe. Thank you so much people of Limuru for ensuring our safety. We will not be intimidated or silenced—now we know!” Thang’wa stated.

The senator’s statement, however, suggested a hidden attempt on the life of the former DP following the attack that happened today.
In the incident that happened at midday on Thursday, Gachagua’s detail was forced to whisk him to safety after the hostile youths went rowdy.
He later managed to get his way to his motorcade which was equally destroyed in the melee, leaving windscreens and emergency exits of the cars damaged.
According to reports, several people also sustained critical injuries with the photos of the event further showing plastic chairs scattered on the ground.
Authorities are, however, yet to issue an update on what resulted in the fracas even as the political temperatures within the larger Mt Kenya region continue to simmer following the impeachment of the former DP.
On Sunday, November 28, Gachagua went on a tongue-lashing spree on President William Ruto while speaking during a church service at AIPCA Kangari in Kigumo, Murang’a County, where he offered a fresh perspective of what led to his bitter fallout with President Ruto, a speech that did not sit well with key state allies.
He went ahead to paint a picture of how the President ignored him on key issues of national interest, including the recently flawed government deal with the Indian conglomerate of companies Adani Group.
“I told the president this Adani deal was plagued with flaws and the people did not want it, and he despised me for it. And it was put out to look like I was opposing government projects,” Gachagua stated.
The former DP further explained that all other Cabinet Secretaries were afraid to approach Ruto on key issues, leaving him exposed as the only went to speak to him on the same.
“The Adani issue was the source of friction between myself and the President,” Gachagua said, “In the Cabinet, I was the only one who could speak the truth. All others were afraid. When the president stared down at them, they all bowed down,” he added.
