The Kenya Meteorological Department warned of light showers in Nairobi and some other parts of the country over the next two days.
According to the Met, the rains are likely to be experienced in Nairobi and other parts of the country on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
In its daily forecast, the Met predicted that showers are to be expected in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka.
The showers are also forecast for the southeastern lowlands covering Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties as well as inland parts of Tana River County. These regions were predicted to face showers between Saturday and Sunday last week and Monday this week.

However, most parts of the country will remain dry and sunny, according to Kenya Met.
“Most areas will remain dry and sunny, but light to moderate showers are likely over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, South-Eastern Lowlands, and Nairobi,” Kenya Met said in a post on X.
The weatherman cautioned that the downpours may be accompanied by storms in some regions.
“Expect light (0-5mm) to moderate (5-20mm) rainfall in 24 hours, with isolated storms in some areas,” read the forecast.
In its five-day weather forecast released on Thursday last week, the Met indicated temperatures in Nairobi and its environs could hit highs of 28°C, with minimum temperatures reaching up to 10°C.
The same forecast had warned high temperatures would remain constant in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and the broader Rift Valley region—which encompasses counties such as Kisumu, Kisii, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Kakamega, and Busia—reaching highs of 31°C and lows of 09°C.
A similar situation was to be expected in the coastal counties, including Mombasa, Kilifi, and Kwale, which are expected to remain mostly dry during the day with occasional cloudiness at night.
Daytime temperatures in these regions are forecasted to exceed 32°C, while nighttime temperatures may reach up to 21°C.
The Director General of the Kenya Meteorological Department, Dr. David Gikungu, had cautioned residents in the northwestern and northeastern parts of the country to remain vigilant due to anticipated strong southeasterly winds reaching speeds of up to 25 knots (12.5 m/s).
