Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba led the country in observing the International Day of Education in Taita Taveta County acknowledging the success in the construction of over 14,500 classrooms in the country.
During the event, the CS commissioned eight newly constructed Junior School classrooms at Mghambonyi Comprehensive School and a tuition block at Mbauro Comprehensive School in Wundanyi Sub-County, Taita Taveta County.
CS Ogamba urged students to take advantage of the new July examination series terming it as a significant innovation in the education calendar that aims to enhance opportunities for candidates to improve their academic qualifications and address challenges in learner progression.
“I also urge parents to register under the Taifa Care Programme and enlist your school going children as dependents” said the Cabinet Secretary.
In line with the International Education Day’s 2025 theme, “AI and education: Preserving human agency in a world of automation”, the CS encouraged learners to embrace the use of technology however cautioning them against its misuse. He stated that technology is an enabler to one’s success but should not lead one into criminality.
Earlier in the CS commissioned newly constructed Junior School classrooms at Mwanyambo Comprehensive School in Voi. He was accompanied by Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako Mwakuwona and his Voi counterpart Mr Khamis Chome Abdiwas.
On capitation, the CS assured stakeholders that the money once released by the exchequer will be immediately disbursed to beneficiaries in public schools within three days.
Ogamba regretted the delays occasioned by hard economic times with hopes for improvement in subsequent terms.
