The Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) has announced a train service disruption that will affect passengers using the Nanyuki Safari train.
According to Kenya Railways, the Nanyuki Safari train is set to be unavailable on Friday, January 17. This is after a section of the railway line was blocked hindering the movement of trains between Nairobi and Nanyuki.
”We wish to inform members of the public that the Nanyuki Safari train will not run on Friday, January 17, 2025,” Kenya Railways announced
”This is due to a blockage on a section of the line, which is hindering the movement of trains between Nairobi and Nanyuki.”

However, the authority did not reveal what caused the blockage and the nature of the railway line.
Kenya Railways, however, assured members of the public that they deployed a team to work on repair works on the line. This is to ensure normalcy is restored promptly.
”Our technical teams are working to clear the blockage and restore the line to working order,” it noted.
”As always, the safety of our passengers is of paramount importance to us.” the corporation added.
The authority, at the same, apologised to hundreds of users who had hoped to use the Safari train service to travel over the weekend to Nanyuki and its neighbouring regions.
”We apologise for any inconvenience caused and look forward to having you onboard upon resumption of normal service,” it added.
It is important to note the services of the Standard Gauge Railway(SGR) service will continue as usual.
The announcement came against the backdrop of recent service disruptions that the authority has announced in the past affecting major service routes.
On December 19, last year, the authority announced to commuters the suspension of commuter trains that were to run from December 2024, 23, to January 5, 2025.
The suspension affected the Nairobi Commuter train service, serving estates and centres within the Nairobi Metropolitan area.
