Kenyan Athletes Ordered to Register With Athletics Kenya to Receive Key Services

Kenyan athletes have been ordered to register with Athletics Kenya (AK) or risk missing out on key services and recommendations.

Through a statement dated January 8, 2025, Athletics Kenya said it had streamlined athlete registration to enhance services offered to them and their support personnel and directed athletes to register in the AK Database management System.

Failure to comply will lead to far-reaching consequences, including missing out on various support letters.

Athletes will also be unable to participate in trials for the World Athletic Championship and Road races across the country.

“We wish to notify all athletes and athlete support personnel that going forward no athlete will be allowed to participate in any Athletics event without being registered in the AK DBMS,” the statement read in part.

Athletes who have not registered risk being locked out of the AK Cross Country and Track and Field Weekend meetings for the County, Regional, and National Championships.

For all those athletes residing out of the country,  Athletics Kenya will be issuing them with a registration link to facilitate their registration from there.

Although there is no deadline, athletes have been urged not to delay registration to avoid missing key services that could hinder their prospects of taking part in races.

To register, athletes have been asked to visit the Athletics Kenya offices at Riadha House in Nairobi, the 21st floor of Daima Towers in Eldoret, and all Athletics Kenya-organised events.

One needs to have their national identification card, original birth certificate, and passport to register.

The new system, which was launched in July 2024, offers athletes the opportunity to navigate their dashboard and plan current and future races.

“Upon successful registration, athletes will receive a confirmation email with access to their personalised participant dashboard. This dashboard allows you to view key information, track your participation, and update select details as needed,” AK said during the launch.

The system is not only for athletes but also for coaches.
