Kindiki Breaks Silence on Ruto Rift Claims, Reveals His Whereabouts

There is no rift between President William Ruto and his second in command, Kithure Kindiki, at least according to the latter.

Kindiki, who has been missing from the public for weeks now resurfaced on Saturday, dispelling rumours of a split between the two.

The claims emerged after Kindiki, who since taking office in November has been with the Head of State in many major public events, quietly left the public space, making no appearances even for the burial of National Assembly Moses Wetangula’s mother on Friday.

Speaking during the wedding ceremony of the son of Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano in Tigoni, Kiambu County, Kindiki revealed that he has been on holiday and his absence did not have anything to do with claims of division.

”I am left with only a few hours as my holiday is coming to an end. Therefore, I need to enjoy whatever is left. Ignore everything else completely. Just ignore everything else,” Kindiki asserted.

The DP instead asked Kenyans to stay away from diversionary talks and help the government advance its development agendas to the people of Kenya.

Additionally, the Deputy President stated that after taking some time off, he now feels ready to resume offering his support to his boss in steering the country forward.

”Don’t, don’t fall into the trap of triviality, small things, and small issues. Little things, and so forth. We have a business and am glad the president allowed me a few days off,” Kindiki stated

”I feel so energised, and I believe that this is a year that all of us will rally, support the president, and take Kenya to the next level,” he added.

Digital communication strategists linked to the DP have been trying to allay fears about his whereabouts amid the growing social media speculations.

However, this is not the first instance of the Deputy President being absent. A similar scenario occurred in May 2022 when then-Deputy President William Ruto unveiled Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate at his Karen office on Sunday, May 15.

Meanwhile, other key guests who attended the high-end event where Kindiki was the chief guest were Cabinet Secretary of Defense Soipan Tuiya, Cabinet Secretary of Interior Kipchumba Murkomen, Water CS Eric Mugaa, Attorney General Dorcas Odwour, and Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku, amongst others.
