The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has dismissed allegations of mixing up the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results during marking.
In a brief statement on Thursday, January 9, the examination council flagged a viral social media post alleging that KNEC was now planning to issue the exam results randomly.
The flagged post alleged that an examiner who participated in the marking of the national examinations disclosed that the KCSE papers were mixed up during the marking process.
According to the post, the examiner further alleged that KNEC was now planning to randomly distribute the results without determining the accuracy of the marked papers.

“Hello Wanjabi, I was part of the team marking KCSE. Results have been mixed up, KNEC is planning to give results randomly,” alleged the flagged post.
The social media message further alleged that parents wishing to change their children’s KCSE grade to A (plain) could do so easily.
KNEC refuted the claims after a section of social media users expressed concern over the allegations with some calling on the exam council to clarify the matter.
The clarification followed moments after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba formally released the KCSE results at Mtihani House in Nairobi.
While releasing the results on Thursday morning, Migos announced that 1693 candidates got Grade A compared to 1216 in 2023. Meanwhile, 246,391 candidates got a Grade C+ and above while 476, 889 candidates got a Grade C-.
The CS advised parents and students to access the examination results online through a secure link: results.knec.ac.ke
“Enter the candidate’s index number and any one of the names as per the registration data of the 2024 examination results. Any candidates with difficulties accessing results should call Knec toll-free number 0800724900 or 0800721410,” CS Migos stated.
According to the CS, about 840 candidates were involved in examination irregularities in 2024 and their examination results were cancelled pending scrutiny.
